Pipe doodles

I don't like to be idle, but neither do I always feel like working hard. It's a good exercise for me to remind myself that I don't have to set out to do something terrific every time I pick up a sketchbook and handful of pencils. That attitude, the one that requires me to try to create a masterpiece, whether in my design life or as an artist, has blocked my creative efforts more than anything else. The desire to put forth my best work is a good thing, but not when it's so relentless that it discourages me from doing anything at all. And I know the affliction is not unique to me - I remind my children often that too much perfectionism can cause paralysis and of course depression. Better to just get started and your standards will assert themselves. Without the doing, there's never any improvement. So, this lazy late fourth of July morning, a quick little doodle of the recently smoked Adam Davidson, three Rad Davis, and one old BBB, strewn in front of my computer keyboard.
